Is Valorant crossplay? Console and PC, explained

Valorant crossplay is partial, and the divide is easy to hold in your head: it runs by hardware type. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players share a single matchmaking pool, while PC players sit in their own pool and never match against a console.

So the short answer we give people is yes across the two consoles, and no between PC and console. That console-versus-PC line is really the whole story on this page.

One thing to separate before the details: crossplay is about who you can play with, and cross-progression is about whether your account carries between platforms. Valorant handles those two very differently, so we've pulled them apart below.

Which platforms share a match

Why PC and console stay apart

The console pool and the PC pool are kept separate on purpose. Riot splits mouse-and-keyboard PC input from controller-only console input so matches stay fair.

Cross-progression: what carries and what resets

Valorant does have cross-progression, and it's tied to your Riot Account rather than to any one platform. Link a console to the same Riot Account you use on PC and your account content follows you.

That covers agents, skins, Battle Pass tiers, and your currencies: Valorant Points, Kingdom Credits, and Radianite Points. Buy a skin on PC and it's waiting when you sign in on PS5 or Xbox.

The one exception is competitive rank. Rank and MMR are tracked and reset separately for the PC pool and the console pool, so your rank doesn't move even though your inventory and account level do.

In plain terms: your stuff carries everywhere, your rank does not.

Playing with a friend on the other console

Because PS5-Xbox crossplay is on by default, there's nothing to switch on first. You just need to add each other.

There's no equivalent path for PC and console, because that crossplay doesn't exist to turn on. No menu, no setting, nothing tucked away.

Can you turn Valorant crossplay off?

There's no player-facing toggle for it. PS5-Xbox crossplay is always on, and Valorant doesn't give either console a switch to leave that combined pool.

On the PC side there's nothing to turn off either, since PC and console never share a match to begin with. If you're on PC, you're already only facing other PC players.

Voice chat across PS5 and Xbox

In-game voice chat works across the console pool. Once a PS5 and an Xbox player are grouped, they can talk with no third-party app.

PC and console run on separate voice systems, which follows from never sharing a lobby. You won't cross voice channels between the two pools.

What some guides get wrong

The mix-up we see most is treating cross-progression and crossplay as one answer. They aren't: your account carries to console, but your matches and your rank stay tied to a single pool.

The other one is the idea that PC and console crossplay is coming or can be forced on. As of this verification there's no PC-console matchmaking on any platform or setting, and nothing official points to that changing.
