Ready or Not has full crossplay between PC on Steam and Epic, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, and it's worked that way since the console launch in July 2025.

Two things trip people up before a squad comes together. Crossplay is off by default on console, so someone has to switch it on, and a PC host running mods will lock console players out of that lobby.

One more distinction worth clearing up early: crossplay lets the platforms play together, but your progress still doesn't travel between them. We cover that in its own section below, because it's the part most guides skip.

Which platforms play together

All three platform families sit in one crossplay pool, so a five-operator squad can mix PC, PS5, and Xbox in the same session. The setting that matters is the host's, since one player's crossplay toggle governs the whole lobby.

Platforms Crossplay Notes
PC (Steam + Epic) + PS5 + Xbox Series X|S Yes Squads of up to five operators can mix all three platforms once crossplay is enabled; the host's crossplay setting governs the whole lobby.

On PC that covers both storefronts, so a Steam player and an Epic Games Store player are in the same pool without any extra step. For another squad-based shooter with the same PC-and-console lineup, see the ARC Raiders crossplay guide. There's no last-gen entry here: crossplay is a PS5 and Xbox Series X|S feature, not PS4 or Xbox One. If you play shooters on PlayStation, our roundup of the best PS5 shooter games has more to line up.

Cross-progression is a separate question

No, Ready or Not doesn't have cross-progression, and that's the piece people most often confuse with crossplay. VOID Interactive confirmed in a Steam FAQ ahead of the console launch that progress doesn't carry over between platforms.

So the two features do different jobs. Crossplay decides who you can play with in a match; cross-progression would decide whether your unlocks follow you to another platform, and this game only has the first.

The practical result is simple. If you move from PC to console, or the other way, you start progression fresh on the new platform, even though you can still squad up across all three. Rainbow Six Siege is another tactical shooter with crossplay, as our Rainbow Six Siege crossplay guide covers.

How to turn crossplay on

On console, open Settings, go to Gameplay, and set Cross-Play to Enabled, since it starts off by default. On PC there isn't a separate toggle in the same place; once a host has crossplay on, everyone who joins that lobby follows the host's setting.

You don't need to link or create an Epic Games account just to use crossplay. Linking one can still help when you're sending cross-platform friend invites, so it's worth doing if you play with the same group often.

Voice chat carries across platforms too. Helldivers 2 is another co-op squad shooter with crossplay, as our Helldivers 2 crossplay guide explains. Everyone in the same cross-platform lobby can talk in-game, so a mixed PC and console squad isn't split into separate voice channels.

Here's the catch to check first if a console friend can't join you. Mods are PC-only, and a modded PC host blocks console players from that lobby even with crossplay enabled, so an unmodded host is the fix.

On console, open Settings, go to Gameplay, and set Cross-Play to Disabled. That drops you into same-platform matchmaking only, which is the setting we'd reach for if you specifically want a console-only lobby.

No. Mods are PC-only, and a modded PC host blocks console players from joining even when crossplay is on, so ask the host to run an unmodded lobby.
No. VOID Interactive has confirmed there's no cross-progression, so switching platforms means starting progression again on that platform.
