The button codes that powered GTA San Andreas on the PS2 mostly survived the jump to PS5, and they still go in the same way: live, during normal play, with no menu to open. That's the good part.
But as always, entering any code means no more trophies on that save, so the smart move is to keep one save for messing around and a clean save for trophy runs.

Every code here uses the standard PS5 controller face buttons and shoulder buttons. The button sequence is both the cheat and the way you enter it, so type it in exactly as written.

The health-and-money code is the one we reach for first when a mission has beaten a vehicle to scrap, since it fixes the car you're sitting in at the same time.

Big Head Mode is a Definitive Edition addition rather than a classic-game holdover, so it's new ground even if you played the original to death.
One warning on the riot code: third-party guides report that the pedestrian riot is permanent once triggered on a save and cannot be switched back off, so save first.

A note on the jetpack: a couple of outlets briefly listed it as cut at launch, but Game Informer, Inverse, GTABase, and Shacknews all publish a working code, so we treat that spawn as current and read the removal claim as an early pre-patch report.
How to enter cheats on PS5
Enter the button sequence live, while the game is running and unpaused. These are not typed into the pause menu, and there's no separate cheat screen to open.
A small on-screen notification pops up to confirm a code landed. You can start entering codes as soon as the game begins, and, unlike the classic cheats' reputation for needing quick fingers, there's no time limit between button presses on the Definitive Edition.
PS4 uses the exact same list, so every code above works identically on both consoles. The GTA San Andreas cheats for PS4 mirror this page button for button. On PC and mobile the same effects use typed word codes instead of button combos, for example INEEDSOMEHELP for health, armor and the $250,000 bundle, THUGSARMOURY for Weapon Set 1, and KANGAROO for Super Jump.
What cheats switch off
Using any cheat code disables trophy and achievement progress on that save file. That's the single most important thing to know before you start typing codes.
Every major guide we cross-checked says the same thing, including Push Square, Inverse, and GTABase, and there's no dedicated Rockstar Support article for the Definitive Edition to add a first-party line on top. There's a second hazard beyond trophies. The pedestrian-behavior codes, meaning the riot, armed pedestrians, and no-pedestrians cheats, can break some mission scripts, so avoid them on a save you actually care about progressing.
Cheats Rockstar removed from this version
This is where the Definitive Edition parts ways with the PS2 original. The remaster was rebuilt on Unreal Engine in place of the original RenderWare engine, and some effects did not carry over. The San Andreas Definitive Edition cheat guide page collects the full working set across platforms. Rockstar producer Rich Rosado has said some cheat effects "didn't play well in the Unreal base" and were cut for technical reasons, per GameRant and Sportskeeda.
These classic codes are confirmed gone on PS5:
- Infinite Health. Rockstar could not port this as a togglable invincibility cheat on the Unreal-engine remaster.
- Never Get Hungry (No Hunger).
- Cars Float on Collision.
- Destroy All Cars.
- Invisible Cars.
- Adrenaline Mode.
- The pedestrian costume themes (reported as Kinky, Rural, and Yakuza-Triad under slightly different names across outlets).
If you memorized any of those from the classic release, that muscle memory won't do anything here except waste a few button presses.
