What is an obby?

An obby is an obstacle course game on Roblox, short for "obstacle course." You jump, climb, and dash across platforms to reach the end, dodging gaps and moving hazards on the way.

Most use checkpoints, while the hardest send you back to the start after a single miss.

How an obby works

Every obby is built around one action, getting from the start to the finish without falling. In between sit narrow beams, spinning blades, disappearing tiles, and jumps you have to time.

Checkpoints, often called stages, save your spot along the way. A tower obby stands the whole course upright, so you climb it rather than run across it.

Miss a jump and your character tumbles off with ragdoll physics, then respawns at your last checkpoint. Difficulty is the real hook, since easy obbies are a relaxed climb while the hardest test patience as much as timing.

Types of obby you'll see

Most obbies are free to enter, though some sell a skip-stage button or cosmetics for Robux.
