You may have started a survey only to be screened out partway through. This is a normal part of how surveys work, and it doesn't mean anything went wrong with your account.

What does "screened out" mean?

It means you don't match the type of respondent the survey is looking for. Surveys often want specific people, for example of a certain age, location or occupation, or with particular habits or opinions. Screening questions at the start of a survey check whether you match.

Why did I get screened out?

Your answers to the screening questions didn't match the criteria the survey is looking for, so the survey ended early. This can happen even if you qualified for a similar survey before, because each survey has its own requirements.

Does getting screened out affect my account?

No. Getting screened out isn't a penalty and doesn't affect your account or your standing on HeyCash.

Will I still earn anything?

Sometimes. Some surveys pay a small number of points (1,000 points = $1) when you're screened out, and others don't. It depends on the survey and its terms.

Tips to get screened out less often

Screen-outs come from each survey's requirements, not from anything you did wrong. These tips still help:

  • Don't rush. Take your time to read the questions.
  • Be honest. Give accurate answers about yourself and your opinions.
  • Don't use a VPN or public Wi-Fi. Any service that hides your connection is treated as fraud.
  • Be open. Answering "I don't want to answer this question" will usually screen you out.
  • Be detailed. Give a unique, thorough answer to free-text questions.
  • Offensive language and copied or low-effort answers will get you screened out.
