Here's the accurate version. The official mobile multiplayer guide supports one specific path: an iOS or Android (mobile) player joining a farm that a PC player is hosting. It runs over a direct IP address, so there's no in-game friend list or farm browser doing the matchmaking for you. Both devices also have to be on the same game version, and it's still labeled experimental, so expect the occasional rough edge.
That path does not extend to consoles. Mobile cannot reach a console (PS, Xbox, or Switch) host, and two mobile devices are not the headline use case here either. Cross-save and cross-progression
Crossplay and cross-save are different questions, and people mix them up constantly. Crossplay is about playing together. Cross-save is about carrying one farm between devices.
Stardew Valley has no official cross-save or cross-progression. A farm you start on Switch, PS5, Xbox, or mobile stays on that platform. You cannot pick up your Switch save on PC or move an Xbox farm to PlayStation. Save files are tied to the platform that created them, so buying the game a second time on a new system means starting a fresh valley. How to play Stardew Valley multiplayer together

For same-platform, PC-family, or same-console-family co-op:
- The host loads their farm and opens the co-op options, making sure a cabin is available for each guest.
- The host invites friends through Steam or the platform's own friend system, or over a local network.
- Guests accept the invite and drop into the shared farm.
For the mobile-to-PC exception:
- On PC, open the co-op menu and choose to host the farm.
- On mobile, choose Join and enter the PC host's IP address.
- Keep both devices on the same game version. Staying on the same local network is easiest; for remote play, the host needs to forward UDP port 24642.
