Is Arc Raiders crossplay? Platforms and squads, explained

ARC Raiders has full crossplay across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and it's switched on by default, so a PlayStation player, an Xbox player, and a PC friend can all drop into the same raid with nothing extra to set up.

PC here covers both Steam and the Epic Games Store, and they sit in the same pool as the consoles. Your friends and your progress ride on an Embark ID account rather than the platform, and that's the detail that makes squads and saves behave the same everywhere.

Which platforms play together

Cross-progression: does your progress carry between platforms

Yes, and it's worth keeping separate from crossplay, since people mix the two up. Crossplay is about playing together across platforms, while cross-progression is about your account following you between them.

In ARC Raiders, progression is tied to your Embark ID rather than the machine you're on. So your inventory, your levels, your blueprints, your cosmetics, and your Battle Pass progress all carry over automatically between PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

How to squad up across platforms

Crossplay is on by default, so most of the work is just adding the right people. Friends are found by Embark ID, not by your PlayStation, Xbox, or Steam name.

To add a cross-platform friend, open the Social menu and use Add Friend with their Embark ID. To pull them into a raid, use the + button on the Lobby screen to invite friends from any platform into your party.

In-game voice chat carries across platforms for everyone in the same squad, so a mixed PS5, Xbox, and PC party can still talk mid-raid. How to turn crossplay off

If you'd rather match only with players on your own platform, ARC Raiders lets you opt out. In Settings > Social, set Cross-Platform Play to Off.

With that toggle off, you're matched only with same-platform players who have also opted out. There's no separate console-only pool sitting behind the full opt-out, so flipping that switch is the only way to narrow your lobbies.

One honest note on sourcing: Embark's official FAQ confirms crossplay and adding friends by Embark ID, but it doesn't spell out the off toggle itself. The exact menu path lines up across consistent community reporting, so treat these steps as community-verified rather than quoted from the official FAQ.

Did an update break ARC Raiders crossplay

You might still run into posts saying crossplay is broken, and those trace back to one patch. The Riven Tides update on April 28, 2026 left the crossplay toggle greyed out and stuck for some players.

Embark shipped a fix two days later in the April 30, 2026 patch (build 1.26.1). As of August 23, 2026 the game is on Live Update 1.42.0 and crossplay is working normally, so any "crossplay is down" claim you find is out of date.
